Role and Responsibilities Objective: To implement and oversee youth programming at Salt House Church for middle and high school students in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Lead discussions and teachings that explore age-appropriate lessons on biblical, spiritual, and relational topics for the furthering of spiritual development and the personal ownership of faith. A rhythm of monthly fun activities, communion-meal nights, and service projects give variety to these gatherings. Overall responsibilities include:
- Run weekly programming for middle and high school youth throughout September – May.
- Collaborate with staff to select curriculum for both youth groups and implement it.
- Plan and oversee confetti events for youth (off-site events like bowling, ice skating, and retreats). These will happen year-round.
- Invite youth to participate by actively engaging with youth and families on Sundays, reaching out via mailings, and creating content for newsletters and social media.
- Initiate and form in-depth connections with youth.
- Communicate regularly with youth and families regarding programming, schedules, and opportunities to engage.
- Meet regularly with staff to discuss programming. Communicate with staff any questions or needs that arise. This can include supply/budget needs as well as any other forms of support you may need to run the program successfully.
- Attend service at Salt House Church with the youth on Sundays.
- Complete Safe Haven training every 3 years. Training will be provided by Salt House.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Be a baptized follower of Jesus Christ. (If not baptized, we can do that for you!)
- Proven effective communication and listening skills with adults and teens.
- Proven ability to communicate the Gospel in a clear, compelling, and contextual way to middle and high school students.
- Have experience with the Scriptures and enjoy reading the Bible with students.
- Be comfortable praying in small groups and with individuals.
- Proven ability to explore a wide variety of student-led faith questions (even if you don’t know the answers!), and discussions that could include difficult topics.
- Proven ability to relate to youth, foster healthy interpersonal relationships among them, and earn their respect and trust.
- Self-motivation and proven ability to organize, manage, and follow through on events and tasks.
- Proven ability to collaborate and work with others in a team environment.
- Continued investment in your own faith.
- 2+ years experience working with middle school and high school aged kids

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work schedule includes attendance at worship services on Sundays, and middle and high school youth groups on Sundays or an evening during the week (you will have input in determining regular meeting times).
- Occasional events and/or retreats on weekends.
- At least 1 overnight retreat per year.
- Required to speak and hear.
- Ability to lift or move up to 10-20 lbs.
- Position requires flexibility in scheduling.
